Ulm kicks off 2030 garden show with a symbolic palm tree planting
Ulm has officially participated in a statewide tree-planting challenge by planting a palm tree on the future site of its 2030 garden show. The move follows a nomination from the Bavarian State Garden Show Gundelfingen 2029. The newly planted tree marks the start of preparations for the six-month event.
The palm tree now stands on the future Blue Balcony, a planned green meeting spot in the Poets’ Quarter. This area aims to boost neighborhood cohesion and provide a space for residents to gather. The tree itself serves as a visible symbol for the upcoming State Garden Show Ulm 2030.
The palm tree now marks the beginning of Ulm’s preparations for its 2030 garden festival. The event will run for six months, featuring new green spaces, climate initiatives, and community-focused projects. Organizers expect the Blue Balcony and other developments to become central to the city’s future.
