Ugandan AI Startup Revolutionizes Customer Service Across African Industries

A Ugandan startup called HerDelight Echoes is transforming how businesses in Africa handle customer interactions. Using advanced AI, the company has developed voice-based systems that reduce wait times and improve service efficiency. These systems are now operating in medical centres, dental clinics, and real estate firms across the region.

Founder Shiphrah Atuhairwe built the AI technology herself, learning through modern large language models like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. Unlike traditional chatbots, HerDelight Echoes creates custom AI agents with memory, reasoning, and the ability to escalate issues when needed. The agents don't rely on fixed scripts but instead adapt to real-time situations while following legal and ethical rules.

The latest AI system can process visual information, interpret context, and carry out complex tasks without human input. It integrates seamlessly with customer relationship management (CRM) tools, project management systems, and internal workflows. This allows businesses to guide customers from first contact through to follow-ups across multiple platforms.

Currently, four medical and dental centres use the system to manage over 100 daily client interactions. Three real estate firms and other service institutions have also adopted it. Adoption rates differ depending on leadership—CEOs tend to push for quicker implementation compared to IT departments or middle managers.

No other company in East Africa has deployed a similarly integrated AI agent system. While broader AI investments exist across Africa, none match HerDelight Echoes' level of customisation and autonomous operation.

HerDelight Echoes fills a gap in African business operations by offering AI that reduces fragmentation in customer service. The technology's ability to remember past interactions, reason through problems, and act independently sets it apart from existing solutions. With growing adoption, the system is poised to reshape how industries handle client engagement in the region.
