Eskişehir Forest Nursery in Türkiye has significantly boosted its sapling production to 9 million this year, a substantial increase driven by the surge in forest fires across the country.
The nursery, which typically produces 3 million saplings annually, has tripled its target for the upcoming year due to the urgent need for reforestation. It supplies saplings for various projects, focusing on areas devastated by recent fires.
Türkiye faced one of its most challenging fire seasons this year, with a total of 1,351 forest fires recorded. The prolonged drought exacerbated the situation, making the nursery's increased production a crucial step in recovery efforts.
