Turkestan celebrates cultural growth with awards and new arts initiatives

Turkestan celebrates cultural growth with awards and new arts initiatives

A festive ceremony took place in Turkestan to mark Culture and Arts Workers’ Day. The event celebrated achievements in the region’s cultural sector, with officials and artists gathering for the occasion.

Deputy Akim Yertai Altaev attended the celebrations, highlighting ongoing efforts to develop the arts across Turkestan. The evening began with the 'Museum Parade' competition, showcasing local cultural institutions. Later, the Altyn Tamyr dance ensemble performed Ener, entertaining the audience with traditional choreography.

Renowned Kazakh artists Marzhan Arapbayeva and Gulnur Orazymbetova also took the stage, adding to the gala’s prestige. Employees were honoured with awards, including the Medal for Labor Distinction and Excellence in Culture. Kalyima Zhanatoreva, deputy executive secretary of the Amanat party, presented letters of gratitude to outstanding workers.

During his speech, Altaev noted Turkestan’s cultural growth, pointing to six new Houses of Culture opened in 2022. Ten more are currently under construction, with plans for further initiatives in the coming years. The region has entered a new phase of renewal, expanding access to cultural activities for residents. The event recognised the contributions of cultural workers while reinforcing Turkestan’s commitment to the arts. With new facilities and programmes in development, the region aims to build on its recent progress in cultural infrastructure.
