A scenic 12.7 km circular running route has been published near Lübeck, offering a mix of natural beauty and gentle challenge. Named Falkenhusener Weg – Am Dragerweg, it follows the peaceful shores of the Wakenitz River. The route was officially shared on December 20, 2025, starting at a bus stop in Strecknitz.

The path winds along Falkenhusener Weg and Am Dragerweg, taking runners through varied landscapes. Most of the route follows natural and gravel trails, with occasional paved or compacted sections. Along the way, participants pass through the protected Wakenitz nature reserve, pastoral cattle meadows, and the mouth of the Grönau.

The Wakenitz has been a designated nature reserve since 1995, known for its rare bird species and classic river scenery. Runners can enjoy stunning views of the water, along with small viewpoints perfect for photos. The route is rated as moderately difficult, making it suitable for those with a reasonable fitness level. Completing the full loop takes roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes. The starting point is easily accessible by public transport, with the bus stop in Strecknitz serving as the official beginning.
