Tartu Snow Park thrives as winter fun draws crowds to tubing runs

Winter weather has finally arrived in Tartu, bringing crowds to the city’s snow park. Tartu Snow Park saw long queues on Sunday as families and thrill-seekers enjoyed its seven tubing runs. The park is using artificial snow to keep the season open until the end of February.

Each of the park’s tubing runs stretches nearly 200 metres, attracting both first-timers and seasoned visitors. Marie, a regular at the park, praised the steep drops that make the runs especially exciting. Others, like Külli, arrived with children eager to join in—her child insisted on trying the tubing despite the cold.

Some visitors used the tubing runs as a warm-up before heading to the nearby ski hill. Kaspar and his daughter Lenna were among them, celebrating his wife’s birthday with a day of winter fun. The mix of families and experienced sledders kept all seven runs busy throughout the day.

Jaan Olmaru, the park’s CEO, highlighted the challenges of shorter winters due to global warming. To extend the season, the park relies on artificial snow, allowing activities to continue until late February. Olmaru remains hopeful that the weather will stay cold enough to enjoy the full extended period.

The recent cold snap has encouraged more people to take part in outdoor winter activities. With artificial snow supporting the natural conditions, Tartu Snow Park expects to remain a popular destination for weeks to come. The extended season gives visitors more time to enjoy tubing and skiing before spring arrives.
