Taraz Honours Zhambyl Zhabayev at 175th Anniversary Event
Taraz recently hosted a significant event honouring the 175th anniversary of Zhambyl Zhabayev, a renowned Kazakh poet and philosopher. The 'Aitys aq tangeri, olen zhyrdyng dulduyli' event brought together descendants of Zhambyl Zhabayev, local intelligentsia, and enthusiasts to celebrate his life and works.
The day began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Jambyl Jabaev monument near the regional akimat building. This was followed by a round table discussion at the 'Zhambyltanu' centre, where guests delved into the creative heritage of Zhambyl Zhabayev. Veteran journalist and playwright Elena Alimzhan shared her personal experiences and insights into the poet's life and works, having communicated with those who knew him personally.
Nurlan Bikibayev, a prominent figure, noted the global reach of Zhambyl Zhabayev's works, which have been translated into over 50 languages. The event also included an exhibition organised by the state historical and cultural reserve-museum, showcasing the history of ancient Taraz and the life and works of Zhambyl Zhabayev. Muratkhan Zhambylyov, a descendant, expressed gratitude to the Jambyl people for preserving the memory and promoting the literary heritage of Zhambyl Zhabayev.
The event concluded with commemorative gifts and historical books about Taraz being presented to the honored guests. The 'Aitys aq tangeri, olen zhyrdyng dulduyli' event served as a testament to the enduring influence and respect for Zhambyl Zhabayev's literary legacy in the region and beyond.
