Tamworth Tap Wins National Pub of the Year for Third Time in a Row

The Tamworth Tap has been named National Pub of the Year for the third time in a row. The historic pub, set beside the River Anker, took home the 2025 award from the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra). Owners George and Louise Greenaway admitted they were left 'stuck for words' by the latest win.

The pub first opened its doors in 2017, founded by Chris Loughead and Paul Whitehouse. Its 16th-century shop front and courtyard beer terrace, overlooking the ruins of Norman Castle, give it a distinctive charm. Inside, period features and brewery memorabilia add to the character.

The Tamworth Tap is known for its wide selection of drinks, including eight rotating cask beers, ciders, gins, wines, and bottled beers. Beyond serving pints, it hosts regular events and raises funds for local charities. This community focus recently earned George and Louise the town’s Freedom of the Borough award. Andrea Briers, Camra’s Pub of the Year Coordinator, called the third consecutive win 'history in the making'. The pub previously claimed the top prize in 2022 and 2023, cementing its reputation as one of Britain’s best-loved pubs.

The latest award follows years of growth since the pub’s 2017 launch. Its mix of historic surroundings, local involvement, and quality drinks has drawn praise from customers and judges alike. The Tamworth Tap now holds the rare distinction of winning National Pub of the Year three times in four years.
