In an effort to strengthen family bonds and support children's development during the Corona pandemic, a district-wide campaign named "Playing Together" has been introduced in Germany. The initiative, presented by Landrat Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke and several other officials, aims to sensitize families to the importance of play for children's social development.

According to Youth Office Director, Marion Klein, an increase in playing together could be beneficial for many families. She expressed her pleasure with the campaign, noting its significance during these challenging times for children's development.

The campaign encourages parents to engage in play activities with their children, not just limited to board games or puzzles. Movement games indoors and outdoors, as well as involving children playfully in household activities, are also included.

A reprinted brochure with game and craft ideas is available for interested families, along with additional items like a paint set, Mikado game, wooden tower, and family leisure tips. Various advertising materials, including posters and postcards, have been developed for the campaign, with Renate Alf, a cartoonist, creating five different motifs of everyday scenes for these materials.

District Head Sebastian Johnen suggests that playing together is a good way to prepare children for knowledge transfer or introduce them to it playfully. Landrat Petrauschke further emphasizes that playing together, such as board games, promotes social interaction more than digital games. He states that playing together is essential for the preservation of democracy due to its role in societal coexistence.

The campaign involves partnerships with schools, kindergartens, family centers, youth facilities, and practices. The district-wide campaign titled "Talk to me" has commenced, involving all eight municipalities in the district.
