Summer in Oberhausen: Outdoor Swimming Facility
In the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, Oberhausen has been experiencing an unpredictable summer this year, making it difficult to forecast a typical summer season. Despite the weather fluctuations, both Aquapark Oberhausen and Vonderort pool have been attracting visitors seeking relief from the heat.
On particularly hot days when temperatures soar over 30 degrees, the Vonderort pool sees between 1,500 and 2,500 bathers. However, if the weather is not as inviting, the number of bathers drops to between 500 and 1,000. This trend is common for outdoor pools in temperate regions like Oberhausen, where warm and sunny weather encourages more people to visit, while rainy, cool, or stormy conditions tend to deter them.
Aquapark Oberhausen, with its specialized staff, cleaning, and security, has been welcoming around 40,000 visitors during the summer holidays so far. The facility, designed for 1,000 to 1,400 visitors, has faced challenges on hot days when as many as 5,000 to 6,000 people wish to enter. The operators are optimistic, expecting to catch up by the end of the holidays and welcoming between 60,000 and 70,000 bathers, maintaining the level of last year.
Jens Vatheuer from Aquapark Oberhausen emphasizes that a successful swimming pool season is not just about good weather. He stated, "A successful swimming pool season is about providing a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment for our guests, regardless of the weather."
The Vonderort pool, which only opens when the temperature reaches 25 degrees and the sun is shining, has been closed on many days due to the weather conditions. Meanwhile, Essen's public baths have seen a downturn, with fewer visitors than usual.
To manage the influx of visitors and avoid an admission stop, the operators of Aquapark Oberhausen urge visitors to check online beforehand if there are still entrance tickets available. As the summer continues, both pools will strive to provide a refreshing escape for the residents of Oberhausen, even amidst the unpredictable weather.
The unpredictable summer weather in Oberhausen has little impact on the Vonderort pool's demand for home-and-garden refreshment, as 1,500 to 2,500 bathers flock to the pool on hot days, while the number decreases to 500 to 1,000 on cooler days. Contrastingly, the weather has affected Essen's public baths, leading to fewer visitors. Despite the weather, Aquapark Oberhausen, with its focus on maintaining a clean, safe, and enjoyable lifestyle environment, anticipates welcoming between 60,000 and 70,000 bathers by the end of the holidays.
