Star Singers bring blessings and a call to end child labor in 2026 campaign
Over 20 children and young people from inner-city parishes and the Schwetzingerstadt/Oststadt district gathered at Schwäbisch Gmünd’s City Hall on January 5, 2026. Dressed as the Star Singers, they were welcomed by Lord Mayor Christian Specht for a traditional Epiphany visit filled with songs, blessings, and a message against child labour.
The group, led by the Three Kings—Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar—performed their annual blessing at the town hall. Above the glass door, they inscribed the traditional Epiphany marking, a symbol of their visit. Their 2026 campaign, themed ‘School, Not the Factory: Star Singing Against Child Labor’, highlights support for children in Bangladesh.
Lord Mayor Specht praised the young singers for their dedication, noting their efforts to raise donations in their spare time. He thanked them with small gifts: a free pass to Luisenpark and a chocolate bar bearing the Star Singers’ logo. Before they left, he wished them success for their door-to-door visits, hoping for open doors, generous donors, and attentive listeners.
The Star Singers’ visit to City Hall marked the start of their 2026 campaign. Their message against child labour will now travel through the city as they continue their house-to-house visits. The event also reinforced the tradition of community support for global causes.
