In an emotional and unique tribute, TikToker Angelica has chosen to preserve her late husband's tattoo as a lasting memorial. The process was carried out by the world-renowned company, Save My Ink Forever, which is the only one known to offer such a specialized service.

The Preservation Process

The preservation process involves three key steps: extraction, preservation, and framing. The tattoo is carefully extracted from the deceased's skin, followed by a proprietary preservation technique to halt decay and ensure the tattoo remains intact. Finally, the preserved tattoo is framed into a piece of artwork suitable for display.

A Unique Memorial Option

For Angelica, preserving her husband's tattoo was a meaningful way to remember him. She emphasized the importance of planning for post-mortem memorialization, especially in light of the personal nature of this service.

On the day of her husband's funeral, Angelica met with the mortician to outline the exact tattoo she wanted preserved. The funeral home staff were initially skeptical due to the uncommon nature of the request, but they eventually agreed to facilitate it.

Overcoming Challenges

Despite being based in Ohio, the preserved tattoo was delivered to Angelica in West Virginia. The process took approximately 90 days, during which time Angelica shared her emotional journey with her followers on TikTok.

Upon seeing the preserved tattoo, Angelica experienced a mix of emotions that were both emotional and physical. The tattoo, featuring a Steelers football team logo on a skull, filled a void left by her husband's death.

Encouraging Discussion

Angelica has encouraged her followers to start thinking about how they wish to be honored after their death. She emphasized the uniqueness of the tattoo preservation process and the importance of communicating with the funeral home and Save My Ink Forever to ensure a smooth process.

Her son chose the specific tattoo to be preserved out of over 70 options, and they both find the idea of preserving his father's tattoo to be a fitting and comforting memorial. Angelica has posted videos about her husband's tattoo preservation, with one video three days after the initial post, sharing her emotional experiences throughout the process.
