SICK AG’s Palloc Uses AI to Revolutionize Robotic Depalletizing
SICK AG has unveiled Palloc, an advanced robot guidance system for depalletizing tasks. The technology uses AI to locate and handle cartons, bags, and sacks with precision. First showcased at the SPS 2024 trade fair in November, it promises smarter automation for industrial robotics.
Palloc combines 3D stereo imaging with high-resolution color capture to guide robots efficiently. The system delivers up to 30 full-frame images per second, ensuring accurate detection of carton edges, contours, and layer heights. Its pre-trained neural network recognizes various carton types, while users can add new variants via SICK’s AI tool suite.
The system's flexibility allows its 3D camera to be mounted on a robot gripper or above the workspace. This adaptability ensures reliable detection, even when the top layer's height varies. Integration is seamless, as Palloc connects to any industrial robot or cobot via Ethernet TCP/IP. Developed for broader applications, Palloc supports not just boxes but also bags and sacks. SICK AG and partner Wuxi InfiMotion Technology Co., Ltd. specialize in carton handling, reinforcing the system's role in modern depalletizing solutions.
Palloc's AI-driven approach improves accuracy in automated depalletizing. The system's high-speed imaging and adaptable setup make it suitable for diverse industrial needs. Factories can now rely on a more efficient, future-proof solution for handling stacked goods.
