Shopping event at Schlossberg Hills during August and September with scheduled activities and offerings
The Bierle-Bar, a unique pop-up Aperitivo bar, has made its appearance at the Pop-up-Store by Schwabentor (castle gate) in Freiburg. This collaborative project between the local Ganter brewery and innovation agency machn: serves Freiburger Bierle, a regional organic beer brewed directly in Freiburg.
The Bierle-Bar offers visitors a space to unwind, enjoy drinks, and immerse themselves in exhibitions, music events, and summer aperitivo vibes. It aims to create a vibrant and engaging spot for people to relax, discover, and enjoy local culture.
The project, initially set to run until the end of July 2025, has been extended to August and September due to its success. This extension is a testament to the bar's popularity and its role in temporarily revitalising vacant urban spaces in Freiburg.
The Bierle-Bar was awarded the Freiburg Innovation Prize 2025 on July 14, 2025. This recognition celebrated the collaboration behind Freiburger Bierle as an innovative regional product and the concept of using pop-up stores to promote trade, culture, and gastronomy. The project also received support from the federal funding program "Zukunftsfähige Innenstädte und Zentren" (ZIZ), which aims to make inner cities more sustainable and vibrant.
The pop-up store at Schlossberg provides local actors and initiatives with the opportunity to present themselves and their ideas. The Bierle-Bar, in particular, offers surprising ideas, varied events, and inspiring exhibitions for all ages. It's a place designed for visitors to linger, discover, and enjoy.
The Bierle-Bar is a continuation and development of successful previous pop-up concepts for enlivening vacant urban spaces in Freiburg. Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe (FWTM), the organisation behind these projects, continues to build on this success with the current project.
