Seven Stunning Kitchens Redefine Modern Living in 2025
In 2025, Architectural Digest (AD) highlighted seven standout kitchens that redefine modern living. These spaces go beyond function, blending design, atmosphere, and materials to create inviting hubs for daily life. Among them, a Milan apartment transformed by Studioutte caught attention for its seamless connection to nature.
An American couple moving to Milan discovered a rare find: a city-centre apartment with its own garden. They enlisted Studioutte to reimagine the space, focusing on light and reflection. The original glazing was kept intact, while mirrors and stainless-steel surfaces were added to bounce natural light across the room. These elements also accentuated the contrasts between materials and colours.
The result is a pristine white cube, where Apuan Cipollino marble and lacquered walnut built-ins bring warmth and texture. The garden’s greenery is reflected indoors, blurring the line between inside and out. Another standout project, the 'Durastone' kitchen, was designed by German designer Sebastian Herkner. Positioned centrally in the living area, it reinforces the kitchen’s role as the home’s social core. Each of the seven kitchens featured by AD demonstrates how modern design can turn a functional space into a statement of style and comfort.
The featured kitchens prove that today’s designs prioritise both beauty and purpose. By using light, materials, and thoughtful layouts, they transform cooking areas into central gathering spots. These projects set a new standard for how kitchens can enhance daily living.
