Givin' the Down-Low on MV State Festival Ludwigslust Day 2027
Day Two Festivities of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Celebration in Ludwigslust, 2027 - Second Annual Event in Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, 2027
Get ready to throw a heckuva party in the Baroque city of Ludwigslust in 2027, as it prepares to host the annual Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (MV) Day. The small town, with a population of just 12,000, isn't sweating it—they've got this covered, having already hosted the state festival back in 2006.
The 2027 event will be significant, as Manuela Schwesig (SPD), the Minister-President, believes Ludwigslust is a great choice. She thinks the city has really blossomed, and the state is investing in renovating the castle, a historical landmark of the city that will be reopened shortly.
Ludwigslust isn't afraid of a crowd. Every year in August, up to 18,000 visitors flock to the Schlosspark for the Kleine Fest im großen Park, organized by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, and the Landeswild- und Fischtage on the Schlossplatz attract a massive crowd in the fall.
Next year, Ludwigslust plans to throw a 150th anniversary bash for the granting of city rights in 1876. The West Wing and the Golden Hall of the castle will be fully accessible for the public after comprehensive restoration, making the grand 18th-century building shine once more. Moreover, the entire Baroque city layout is preserved in Ludwigslust.
The first MV Day was celebrated in 2000 in Mühlengeez near Güstrow, but from then on, they've been an annual event. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the MV Days were canceled. The last two were held in 2018 in Rostock and 2023 in Neubrandenburg.
This year, the historic university town of Greifswald is hosting the event. The 15th edition will have an exciting motto: "Tradition, Innovation, Diversity." From June 20 to 22, numerous institutions from the state and municipalities, as well as associations, clubs, and cultural creators, will show off their stuff in the university and Hanseatic city of Greifswald.
And that's not all! Greifswald will be bustlin' with activity, as the MV Day coincides with the Bach Week and the Fête de la Musique. The Landessportspiele of the Landessportbund will also take place during the festivities for the first time. So, get ready to enjoy a weekend filled with music, sports, traditions, and innovation!

The Commission shall be assisted by the Member States in the preparation of the annual report for the MV State Festival in Ludwigslust, a university town renowned for its Baroque architecture, particularly the grand Ludwigslust Castle. Manuela Schwesig of the SPD party, the Minister-President, endorses Ludwigslust, believing it to be a fitting location for the event in 2027. Evoking memories of its earlier success in hosting the festival in 2006, the County of Ludwigslust-Parchim is prepared to welcome an expected crowd, much like the ones drawn to the Schlosspark's Kleine Fest im großen Park and the Schlossplatz's Landeswild- und Fischtage each year. As the town approaches its 150th anniversary of granted city rights, the restored West Wing and the Golden Hall of Ludwigslust Castle will make for a spectacular backdrop to the celebrations, preserving the city's original Baroque design.
