In the heart of Düsseldorf, a new cultural venture is taking shape. Dr. Gregor Jansen, Art Hall Director, is curating a pilot project for the Art Commission of Düsseldorf, titled the International Lantz Sculpture Park. This exciting initiative aims to rekindle the romantic tradition of art and nature, as well as offer a unique interplay of nature and culture.

The park, which was once used by gallery owner Alfred Schmela for temporary and permanent sculpture exhibitions, will now build on this tradition. Seven new sculptural works, including those by Gesine Grundmann, Christian Odzuck, Martin Pfeifle, Peter Schwickerath, and Bogomir Ecker, are temporarily installed in Lantz Park as part of the pilot project.

One of the most striking additions to the park is Rita McBride's steel sculpture "Mae West Conical Shapes Template". The forms for this sculpture were cut from her 52-meter-high sculpture in "Mae West", realized in Munich in 2011.

Julia Bünnagel and Patrick Rieve's collaboration, titled "THE PARK IS MINE", is also presented. Through their sculptures and actions, the historic park can be rediscovered and experienced anew.

The sculpture park will feature both classically installed and newly conceived works for the park. Four modern artworks by Kenneth Capps, Michael Gitlin, Erwin Heerich, and Meuser can still be found in the park today.

In addition to the sculptures, the park will also host a weekly action program. This program, which runs from July to August, will feature various aspects of performance, music, dance, theater, readings, and food art. The detailed program can be found on the website of the Art Commission at www.kunstkommission-duesseldorf.de.

There is an exception for the lecture "Le monde toujours disponible" with a sample by Arpad Dobriban on August 15. For this event, binding registration via email to [email protected] is necessary, and a fee of 20 euros per person applies.

The International Lantz Sculpture Park Pilot Project offers a fascinating opportunity for citizens to engage with art in a beautiful and historic setting. It lays a foundation for active dialogue between citizens and art, as Jansen believes. However, due to limited information available, specific details about the project remain to be verified.
