Schloss Aschach Kicks Off 2026 Season with Art, Music and Textile Treasures
The Museums at Schloss Aschach have launched their 2026 season with a busy programme of events. The opening weekend in late March will feature family activities, while a major textile exhibition and a traditional festival are planned for May. Visitors can expect guided tours, live music, and hands-on workshops throughout the spring and summer. The season officially began on Friday, March 26, when Stefan Funk, President of the District Council, opened the doors in his ceremonial role as 'lord of the castle'. The following weekend, March 27–28, marked the Family Weekend, offering guided tours and creative workshops. A highlight was the salon exhibition Grand Voyages in Miniature: Bottle Ships and Their World, showcasing ten intricate bottle ships by Matthias Schultz, a Bremen native now based in Bad Kissingen. Among them is his world-record creation—the largest free-floating bottle ship ever made.
On April 25, a walking concert will lead visitors through the castle grounds with live performances. Then, from May 9–10, the annual Schlossfest returns with music, guided tours, and a flea market. The main event of the season, *Stitched and Sewn*, opens on May 13. This special exhibition explores textile handicraft traditions from the Rhön region. Designed as an interactive experience, it includes hands-on stations and a creative area for visitors to engage with the craft.
The 2026 season at Schloss Aschach combines tradition, creativity, and community engagement. Events like the Family Weekend, the walking concert, and the Schlossfest provide varied activities for all ages. The Stitched and Sewn exhibition will run from mid-May, offering a deep dive into the region's textile heritage.
