Rotary Club Marks Museum's 25th with Unique 'Fare Cracker' Event

The Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann recently hosted a unique social event, 'Fare Cracker', at the Manx Aviation and Military Museum. The event, held on Saturday, September 13, saw over 50 members and friends of the club gather to support the museum's ongoing work and celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The event took place at Ronaldsway Airport, where guests were treated to afternoon tea on board a former Manx Airlines ATP aircraft. The aircraft, G-MAUD, was once operated by Manx Airlines and has been restored as part of the museum's preservation project. This marked the first time in 25 years that the aircraft was filled with 'attendees'. Museum director Ivor Ramsden MBE described the occasion as a memorable moment for the museum and the restoration project.

The Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann, known for supporting community projects across the south and west of the Isle of Man, donated £150 to support the museum's work. David Scott, president of the club, expressed members' pleasure in joining the museum's anniversary celebrations.

The 'Fare Cracker' event was a successful fundraiser and celebration for the Manx Aviation and Military Museum. The Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann's donation will contribute to the museum's ongoing preservation work, including the ATP Preservation Project. The event also provided a unique opportunity for guests to experience a piece of Manx aviation history firsthand.
