In a captivating fusion of function and design, French label Plum Living has unveiled a new furniture handle collection. This collection, designed by acclaimed Parisian architect Pauline Borgia, aims to transform the humble furniture handle into a true design statement.

At the heart of the design process was a contrast between soft, gentle hues and bold, monumental forms. The collection maintains its clear function as a door-opening element while also having a strong visual impact. The handles, designed with a quiet yet meaningful aesthetic, are everyday yet personal, echoing a balance between architectural clarity and organic sensuality.

The collection, born from a collaboration between Pauline Borgia and Plum Living, allows for the expansion of ideas and intentions. It can be placed on various parts of IKEA furniture, such as the middle, front, top, bottom, or side, transforming everyday pieces like IKEA Pax wardrobes, bookshelves in living spaces, and coat racks in entrance areas.

Pauline Borgia views the furniture handle as an architectural statement that serves as a prominent reference point in the room. She achieves large-scale, eye-catching designs by playing with proportions, experimenting with different scales, and stacking two identical forms in different sizes. This results in designs that are both nostalgic and modern, reminiscent of preserving historical elements in renovations while embracing contemporary aesthetics.

The collection's color palette evokes the gray-faded facades of old houses, yellow-weathered walls, and soft green moss that climbs over masonry. The intention was to create a slightly aged color palette, whose nuances tell the story of time. Jörg Wulff, another designer credited with the collection, also contributed to this unique blend of functionality and modern design.

In Pauline Borgia's own words, "curves over edges, sculptural pieces over straight-lined furniture." This mantra is evident in the collection's designs, which prioritise curves and sculptural elements over straight lines, resulting in a collection that is both visually striking and functional.

The furniture handle collection by Pauline Borgia is set to redefine the role of furniture handles in interior design, transforming the silent furniture handle into a true design statement.
