Freital to Install Additional Street Signs Highlighting City's History

In an exciting move to enhance public understanding and appreciation of Freital's rich history, ten streets across the city will soon be adorned with additional signs.

The initiative, announced as part of the "100 years of Freital" jubilee celebrations in 2021, invited citizens to suggest locations for these signs. The streets selected for the additional signs were chosen from all the responses received.

The supplementary signs will provide valuable information about the meaning of the street names, as well as their historical significance or local personalities associated with each street.

Some of the streets that will receive these new signs include Willy-Gäbler-Weg (Pesterwitz), Richard-Wolf-Straße (Hainsberg), Albert-Schweitzer-Straße (Döhlen), Paul-Büttner-Straße (Potschappel), Gustav-Klimpel-Straße (Zauckerode), Rudeltstraße (Niederhäslich), Marianne-Bruns-Straße (Deuben), Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße (Wurgwitz), Hellmuth-Heinz-Straße (Burgk), and Krug-von-Nidda-Straße (Saalhausen).

The white signs, which will be attached below the blue ones with the street name, will further strengthen the city's history in the public space. The city is also open to receiving more suggestions for streets that could benefit from additional signs.

Citizens who wish to submit their suggestions can do so via email to [email protected] or by phone at 0351 6476-210.

The addition of these signs is part of an ongoing effort to enrich the city's public space and promote a deeper connection with Freital's history. It is expected that more streets will be equipped with additional signs in the future, as the city continues to celebrate its centenary.

For precise and current details about the additional street signs and their symbolism, it is recommended to check official Freital municipal communications or local news sources for announcements.

The initiative to add supplementary street signs in Freital includes not only highlighting the city's history but also extending it to home-and-garden areas, such as learning about the historical significance of Willy-Gäbler-Weg in Pesterwitz or the local personalities associated with Richard-Wolf-Straße in Hainsberg. Citizens who are passionate about their lifestyle and local history can contribute to this project by submitting their suggestions for streets that could benefit from additional signs via email at [email protected] or by phone at 0351 6476-210.
