Reinfeld’s Herrenteich Trail Blends Nature, History, and Dog-Friendly Adventure
Reinfeld's Herrenteich offers a delightful 4-kilometer circular trail, perfect for a leisurely walk and connecting with nature. The trail, maintained by the city of Reinfeld, features a wooden hut by the water for mid-walk breaks.
The Herrenteich-Uferpromenade-Wanderweg begins at Uferpromenade/Herrenteich, with free parking available at nearby Karpfenplatz. The mostly paved trail is easily navigable even in damp weather, providing scenic views of the 54-hectare lake. Informational signs along the route turn it into a nature discovery trail, offering insights into Reinfeld’s history, ecology, and local flora and fauna.
Visitors can enjoy the trail with their dogs, as it is flat and dog-friendly. However, sections near Upper Herrenteich fall within a conservation area, requiring dogs to be leashed and visitors to respect nesting and resting birds. Several shallow spots along the water’s edge provide cooling opportunities for dogs. To maintain the lake's cleanliness, visitors are encouraged to bring drinking water, a towel, and waste bags.
The Herrenteich trail in Reinfeld is an ideal spot for a relaxing walk, offering a mix of nature, history, and dog-friendly features. With its convenient starting point, free parking, and well-maintained trail, it's a must-visit for locals and tourists alike.
