Regensburg District Empowers Locals to Generate Solar Power
The Regensburg District Office recently hosted a workshop titled 'Installing Your Own Balcony Solar System – A Mini PV Array Can Do More Than You Think'. Organized by the Regensburg District Climate Protection Office and the Regensburg Regional Citizens’ Energy Cooperative (BERR eG), the event aimed to empower locals to generate their own electricity using solar energy.
The workshop, led by Heiko Lieker, covered a range of topics crucial for setting up a plug-in solar panel system. Expert Johannes Graf (BERR eG) provided practical insights into the installation process, legal requirements, and safety measures for these devices. Participants also learned about funding opportunities, ownership issues, and registering with the grid operator.
The event highlighted the significance of small, community-driven measures in combating climate change and stimulating local economic growth. District Administrator Tanja Schweiger emphasized this, stating that citizen-initiated projects accelerate the energy transition, benefiting both the environment and household budgets. The district is setting a fine example, having equipped several of its properties with these solar panels to generate electricity and reduce CO₂ emissions. Investing in a plug-in solar panel system, as demonstrated, offers both ecological and economic advantages.
The workshop 'Installing Your Own Balcony Solar System' equipped attendees with the knowledge and confidence to generate their own electricity using solar panels. By encouraging such initiatives, the Regensburg District is fostering a greener, more sustainable future for its community.
