Topping Out: First Construction Successes at Burg Ranis - Ranis Castle's 12th-Century Gatehouse Undergoes Major Renovation

Ranis Castle's 12th-century gatehouse is undergoing a major renovation, with partial re-roofing using slate and restoration of its half-timbered framework. This €6 million project, funded through a special federal and state investment program, is slated for completion by 2027.

The western roof structure and gables on the south and west sides have been restored. The gatehouse remains fully scaffolded as work continues. The comprehensive renovation, a significant milestone in preserving the 800-year-old structure, is expected to be completed by 2027.
