Putin Urges Russians to Eat More Fish, Calls for Affordable Prices
Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged an increase in fish and seafood consumption across the country. He stressed the need for affordable prices and efficient processing and transportation of Russian catches for the domestic market.
Currently, per capita consumption stands at around 24 kilograms, falling short of the Ministry of Health's recommended standards. Putin has ordered officials to devise proposals to boost domestic consumption.
In Krasnodar, prices for frozen fish like flounder, cod, hake, pollock, blue whiting, and Alaska pollock have risen sharply in just one week. Despite this, Putin has emphasised the importance of maintaining affordable prices across all regions.
Putin's directive aims to enhance the marketing and distribution of fish and seafood in Russia. Officials are working on proposals to increase consumption, with affordable pricing being a key factor. The recent price surge in Krasnodar highlights the need for careful management of the market to meet the president's goals.
