PSID-Ahlen’s Christmas Exhibit Redefines Holiday Design with Cultural Flair
The Philippine School of Interior Design-Ahlen Institute (PSID-Ahlen) is launching its 48th graduation showcase, Designs of Christmas Exhibit (D.O.C.E.). Running from September 27 to October 31 at GH Tower in Greenhills, the event will feature 12 unique installations blending tradition with contemporary design.
The exhibit reimagines Christmas through diverse cultural influences, colours, and artistic perspectives. Each booth reflects the students’ creative vision while honouring heritage and personal expression.
Curated by interior designer and PSID professor Pojie Pambid, the showcase moves beyond the usual red-and-green Christmas themes. Instead, it highlights evolving Filipino design tastes through bold reinterpretations of holiday aesthetics.
The 12 installations draw inspiration from a wide range of styles, including Brutalism, Victorian, Art Deco, Mexican, Brazilian, and Filipino traditions. Other themes like Velvet Frost, Liloura Lush, Spiced Ember, Noël Aurora, Urban Cosmopolitan, and Rustic Soirée add further variety to the collection.
Joel Benitez, president of the graduating class, described the exhibit as proof of how design education can be both innovative and deeply rooted in culture. The students’ work demonstrates their ability to merge modern techniques with traditional influences, offering fresh takes on festive decor.
The Designs of Christmas Exhibit will be open daily from September 27 to October 31. Visitors can explore the installations at GH Tower in Greenhills. The showcase marks the culmination of the students’ academic journey while celebrating creativity and cultural identity.
