Patek Philippe’s Legendary Watches Shatter Auction Records Worldwide

Patek Philippe, the Swiss luxury watchmaker renowned for its mechanical masterpieces, has seen several of its timepieces fetch record-breaking prices at auctions. These watches, symbols of eternity and heritage, have captivated collectors worldwide.

In 2015, the Patek Philippe Ref. 5016A-010, a stainless steel marvel combining a minute repeater, perpetual calendar, and tourbillon, sold for an astonishing CHF 7.3 million (~€6.8–7.0 million) at the Only Watch auction in Geneva. This was a testament to the brand's unparalleled craftsmanship.

Fast forward to 2021, the Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-018, a special Tiffany & Co. edition, sold for US$6.503 million (~€5.9–6.1 million) at Phillips in New York. This marked a significant milestone in the 170-year collaboration between Patek Philippe and Tiffany & Co.

The world's first serially produced wristwatch with a perpetual calendar and chronograph, the Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 in stainless steel, sold for a staggering CHF 14.19 million (~€13–14 million) at Phillips Geneva Watch Auction in 2025. This watch, created in the 1940s, continues to set records.

Other notable sales include the Patek Philippe Ref. 1415 Heures Universelles, which sold for CHF 6.6 million (~€6.1 million) at Antiquorum in 2002, and the Ref. 2523 'Silk Road', which fetched CHF 7.048 million (~€6.4–6.5 million) at Phillips in 2021.

The Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A-010, the most complicated wristwatch ever made by the brand with 20 complications, sold for a staggering CHF 31 million (≈ €28–29 million) at an auction. Meanwhile, the Henry Graves Jr. Supercomplication pocket watch, with 24 complications, sold for US$23.98 million (≈ €21–22 million) at Sotheby's in 2014. These record-breaking sales underscore the enduring appeal and value of Patek Philippe's mechanical masterpieces.
