Paper Mill Road in Geisa Reopens After €1.5M Reconstruction
The Paper Mill Road in Geisa has been reopened after a two-year reconstruction project, costing around 1.5 million euros. The road, a joint venture between the city of Geisa, the Water and Sewage Association (WVS) Bad Salzungen, and other local entities, was officially opened on 1 October.
The reconstruction involved a significant amount of work. Ulstertal GmbH, a construction company, implemented the project, with Tiefbautechnisches Büro Werra GmbH handling the planning. The work included laying 743 meters of road, digging 700 meters of trench, and laying 2,600 cubic meters of asphalt. Additionally, 530 meters of combined sewer and 650 meters of drinking water pipe were installed, along with 16 shaft structures, 45 new house connections, and 25 drinking water house connections.
The WVS invested around 680,000 euros in the construction of a new combined sewer and the laying of drinking water pipes and house connections. The city of Geisa carried out the road construction work at a cost of 857,000 euros, including 325,000 euros of its own funds, with the rest financed through equalization payments from the state of Thuringia.
Mayor Manuela Henkel thanked all involved parties, including the WVS, the state of Thuringia, city councillors, planners, and construction workers, for their contributions to the successful completion of the project. Many residents and representatives of the city, planners, and companies celebrated the completion of the road together.
