A Sense of Home Expands to New York City, Hosted by Shawn and Serena Levy

A Sense of Home, a foster youth organization based in Los Angeles, has announced its expansion into New York City and the tri-state area. This significant step comes at a pivotal moment, following the organization's disaster recovery efforts in the L.A. wildfires.

The expansion will be celebrated at a fundraiser event on August 23, hosted by filmmaker Shawn Levy and his wife Serena at their Hamptons residence. The event aims to provide new community members the opportunity to become part of the A Sense of Home family and support the organization's life-changing resources for youth aging out of the foster care system.

During the L.A. wildfires, A Sense of Home provided home sets of over 330 items to those who lost everything, creating over 20 homes per week. This groundbreaking work will now be introduced to a new community of supporters through the Hamptons event.

The fundraiser will feature a performance by musician Amos Lee and will be hosted by Shawn Levy, Serena Levy, A Sense of Home's CEO Ken Grouf, and founder and president Georgie Smith. The event will also serve as an opportunity to showcase the inspiring work of A Sense of Home and its commitment to disaster relief and housing recovery.

Shawn and Serena Levy have been involved with A Sense of Home for nearly a decade. In 2024, they were previously honored by the organization at its annual Los Angeles Gala, which will be held on Oct. 4 at the Pacific Design Center to celebrate A Sense of Home's 10-year anniversary.

Filmmaker Shawn Levy is also expected to start shooting the film "Star Wars: Starfighter" for Lucasfilm in the fall. The movie, set to hit theaters on May 28, 2027, stars Ryan Gosling, Mia Goth, and Matt Smith.

This expansion and event underline Shawn Levy's active role in supporting meaningful disaster recovery initiatives through A Sense of Home. The organization's mission is to provide life-changing resources to youth aging out of the foster care system and prepare for disaster relief, making a positive impact on the lives of many.

Shawn and Serena Levy, known for their active role in supporting housing recovery initiatives through A Sense of Home, are hosting an outdoor fundraiser at their Hamptons residence on August 23. The event aims to establish a sense of home and community for the organization's new members in the New York City area, while showcasing A Sense of Home's commitment to displaced youth by bringing its life-changing resources for outdoor-living and home-and-garden makeovers into the spotlight.
