Operation Christmas Star delivers over 4,000 toys in Merced County

Over 4,000 children in Merced County received a special surprise this week. Operation Christmas Star delivered wrapped toys straight to their homes on Thursday and Friday. The event, now in its eighth year, brought smiles to families across the area.

The effort was a team project between the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, Probation Department, and Cal Fire. Together, they ensured every child got a gift just in time for the holidays. Volunteers played a key role in making it happen.

Nancy and Bill McCollough led the toy collection and project coordination. For years, the couple has organised the initiative, wrapping presents and planning deliveries. Their hard work helped turn the event into a smooth operation.

Parents shared their thanks as wrapped toys arrived at doorsteps. Many described the deliveries as a much-needed moment of joy during a busy season.

The two-day event reached thousands of children, with each toy hand-delivered. Families expressed relief and gratitude for the generosity shown. The partnership between local agencies and volunteers made it all possible.
