Nizhny Novgorod’s ‘Kind Postcard’ campaign spreads holiday joy to elderly in care homes

The 'Kind Postcard' campaign in Nizhny Novgorod has begun for the sixth consecutive year. Organized by Elena Ivanova, the initiative aims to bring holiday cheer to elderly residents in nursing homes and care facilities across the region. The campaign, run by the Nizhny Novgorod Public Self-Governance Association, encourages city residents to send personalized greeting cards to the elderly. Participants can obtain a resident's name and address by contacting their local Territorial Public Self-Governance (TOS) or neighborhood center. The campaign kicked off with a workshop where students, including seventh-grader Yegor Grishakov and schoolgirl Vasilisa Yazvina, created New Year's cards. Residents are encouraged to include their return address for possible correspondence. With 41 nursing homes housing over 2,000 residents in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, the campaign seeks to spread joy to many elderly individuals. The 'Kind Postcard' campaign, now in its sixth year, invites Nizhny Novgorod residents to brighten the holidays for the elderly. By sending greeting cards, participants can foster connections and bring warmth to those in nursing homes and care facilities.
