New Hiking Trail Towards Bohemian Switzerland Already Accessible - New Hiking Trail Towards Bohemian Switzerland Already Accessible
A new cross-border hiking trail between Bohemian Switzerland and Saxon Switzerland will officially open in April 2025. The eight-kilometre route connects key landmarks while improving safety for walkers. Authorities have invested €22,000 to ensure its readiness.
The trail links the Path to Wilderness in Saxon Switzerland with the Phoenix viewpoint in Bohemian Switzerland. Along the way, hikers pass through forests on Großer Winterberg’s slopes and areas scarred by the 2022 wildfires on the Czech side.
Construction included a new branch leading to Dlouhý roh, funded by the National Park Administration of Bohemian Switzerland. Although some muddy sections still require reinforcement, the entire path is already walkable.
The project marks the first official cross-border hiking route between the two national parks. With its opening next spring, visitors will have safer access to scenic landscapes shaped by both nature and past wildfires. The investment ensures better conditions for walkers exploring the region.
