New Feature in the Municipal Parking Portal Barrier-Free Parking Now Available Digitally

Mönchengladbach has expanded its digital parking portal to include more accessible options for people with disabilities. The updated system now shows around 80 barrier-free parking spaces across the city. These changes aim to improve predictability, safety, and convenience for visitors and residents alike.

The municipal parking portal, available at parken-in-mg.de, now features a dedicated 'Accessible Parking' section on its homepage. This box is clearly visible and optimised for smartphone users. Each listed space includes a photo, making identification easier before arrival.

An integrated route-planning tool lets users navigate directly to their chosen accessible spot. The portal also provides key details such as parking rates, opening hours, height restrictions, and extra services like EV charging or cashless payment. Not all accessible spaces are yet included in the system. However, the city encourages residents to report missing locations via email at *[email protected]*. The Marketing Gesellschaft team can then add them to the portal at any time.

This update builds on Mönchengladbach’s existing digital parking services. By improving accessibility information, the city hopes to create a more inclusive environment for parking and mobility. The new features are designed to help people with disabilities plan visits and leisure activities with greater ease.
