Neuwied’s Repair Café returns with free fixes and hands-on learning
Neuwied’s Repair Café is returning this month with another chance to fix broken items for free. The volunteer-run group meets regularly to help locals repair household goods, electronics, and more. This time, the event takes place on Wednesday, January 28, at the neighbourhood community centre.
The Repair Café in Neuwied operates every fourth Wednesday of the month, from 6 to 8 PM. Anyone can bring in damaged items—as long as they can be carried by hand. Volunteers will attempt repairs while visitors watch, assist, or even pick up new skills.
Advance registration is required for the January session. Those interested should call 02631 863070 or email [email protected] to secure a spot. After a break for Carnival, the next Repair Café will shift to Heimbach-Weis. On Wednesday, March 11, ReThink e.V. will host the event at St. Margaretha parish hall (Burghofstr. 1a). This session also needs sign-ups, which can be done by calling 02622 902787, emailing [email protected], or visiting www.rethink-ev.de/anmeldung-repaircafe.html. For further details, the Verbandsgemeinde Linz am Rhein lists 'Das Team des Repair-Cafés' as the organiser, reachable on 0171 818 66 96.
Both events offer free repairs and a chance to learn from volunteers. The January session runs at Rheintalweg 14, while the March café moves to Heimbach-Weis. Registration ensures a place, so participants are encouraged to book ahead.
