Neuwied's Christmas Market Charity Raises €2,300 for Children's Hospital

A charity campaign at Neuwied's Christmas market has raised €2,300 for a local children's hospital. The event, organized by the Meyer family and the town's Lord Mayor, saw volunteers serving hot drinks to visitors. All proceeds went to Sonnenschein e.V., a group supporting the pediatric ward at Marienhaus Klinikum St. Elisabeth.

The campaign, named Hot Drinks for a Good Cause, took place at Luisenscheune, the Meyer family's venue on Knuspermarkt. Willi and Philipp Meyer, owners of Eventgastronomie Meyer, teamed up with Lord Mayor Jan Einig to run the stall. Einig personally served mulled wine and children's punch to those attending the market.

At the end of the event, the Meyer family topped up the donations, ensuring the final total reached €2,300. Dr. Marc Bohr, chair of Sonnenschein e.V., and Ulrike Börder-Sauerbrei accepted the cheque on behalf of the association. The funds will now support the children's clinic at Neuwied's St. Elisabeth hospital.

This year's effort continues a tradition of similar charity drives by the Meyer family and the mayor. While past donation totals remain undisclosed, the 2023 campaign has delivered a clear boost to the hospital's resources.

The €2,300 donation will directly benefit young patients at the children's clinic in Neuwied. Organizers and volunteers handed over the funds after weeks of preparation and public support. The money is set to improve care and facilities for children receiving treatment at the hospital.
