Neglected pony rescued after owner’s failure to provide critical care

In a distressing case of animal neglect, a pony with a severe joint alteration in its right front leg was discovered in Nizza Monferrato, Piedmont. Despite previous veterinary prescriptions, the property owner had failed to provide adequate care, leading to mobility issues and overall decline in the pony's health.

The pony's plight was brought to light when it was rescued by the Carabinieri Forestali and ASL veterinarians. After a definitive surgical treatment at the Universitary Veterinary Clinic of Grugliasco, the pony will now undergo rehabilitation at a suitable center arranged by Enpa, an animal welfare association.

The property owner's neglect has resulted in a report to the Judicial Authority for suspected animal cruelty.

The pony's future looks more promising with Enpa stepping in to ensure its rehabilitation in a suitable structure. The Carabinieri Forestali and ASL veterinarians played a crucial role in rescuing and treating the pony, while the Judicial Authority will now investigate the suspected cruelty.
