Mysterious Vanishings in Gotha's Triangular Region
Hola, Gotha: On the Trail of Vanishing Treasures in the City of Anniversary Celebrations
Let's kick things off with a little chat about those toy spinners at Coburger Square, Gotha-West. They used to be a hit amongst kiddos until spring 2024, but they mysteriously vanished, just like that! It's not just toys; things are going missing in Gotha lately, as if by some enchanting spell.
Since June 23, 2024, a bike service station from Gera's TAG Wohnen graced the front of the old main post office. Admittedly, I didn't need to do bike maintenance there, but I ooh-ed and aah-ed over the DIY station for weeks.

Celebrating its 1250th anniversary, Gotha has festooned its city entrances with oversized flower pots. The one in Krusewitz Street has quaintly vanished before the anniversary year meets its end.
In the past, 43 signposts dress up the entrances to the industrial areas in Gotha and Ilm districts, all in the sleek regional brand "Thuringian Arc" style. I was there at the unveiling of the second-last pylon in Dr.-Troch Street myself, exactly two months ago. Now, where I once leaned my bike against it, it would've toppled - the sign is nowhere to be found.
The city's press office serves up some plausible answers. The bike station was severely damaged, leading to its dismantling by the road maintenance department. Plans are underway to refurbish and reinstall it in front of the post office.
The missing flower pot? It has been emptied and swiped by some unidentified characters.
The sign in the industrial area, seemingly lost in translation with the Thuringian State Office for Construction and Traffic. They could no longer fulfill their traffic safety obligations, apparently.
The toys? They're just not working right, and a repair date is pending.
Search results provide limited information on the whereabouts of these vanishing treasures in Gotha. If you're interested in learning more, I suggest reaching out to local authorities, checking local news outlets, and scoping out social media and community forums. Happy sleuthing!
