Music Documentary Film Festival Kicks Off at LIMEHOF August 8th-10th

Get ready for an unforgettable weekend as the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) hosts its inaugural Music Documentary Film Festival in Stony Brook, NY, from August 8-10, 2025. This three-day event promises a diverse lineup of music documentaries, live performances, and engaging Q&A sessions with filmmakers.

The festival will screen 24 feature length and short music documentaries from around the world, showcasing a range of genres including classical, hip-hop, rock, jazz, ska, blues, and folk. Among the scheduled musicians whose stories are featured in the documentaries are The Beatles, Harry Chapin, The Zombies, Steppenwolf, Public Enemy, Garland Jeffreys, and Ron Delsener, a notable figure in music promotion.

Harry Chapin's legacy will be prominently featured on the opening night with the screening of "Cat's in the Cradle 50th Anniversary: The Song That Changed Our Lives." S.A. Baron, Paule Pachter, Mike Grayeb, and the Executive Director of the Harry Chapin Foundation are expected to participate in a Q&A discussion, followed by a live music tribute of Chapin's music.

Other opening day films include "Building the Beatles," with co-director John Rose participating in a Q&A, and "Coming Home: The Guggenheim Grotto Back in Ireland," featuring Will Chase, Deborah Lopez, and Ingrid Michaelson.

The festival will also feature a variety of live performances, with Billy J. Kramer, Guggenheim Grotto's Mick Lynch, Public Enemy's DJ Johnny Juice, Naked Blue, Brady Rymer, Jennifer Silecchia-Hackett, Sandra Taylor, and Mega Infinity among the expected performers.

Director Maria Capp, known for "The Lady of The Lake," has been involved with Long Island music and entertainment film events hosted by LIMEHOF, suggesting similar filmmakers may participate in the festival. The festival program includes filmmaker Q&A sessions, implying the presence of documentary directors and producers for interaction with the audience.

While specific names of attending filmmakers have not been fully disclosed, many more are expected to be in attendance, including Victor Guadagno (director of "Charlie Loves Our Band"), Brady Rymer (singer/songwriter), Robert Lichter (director of "Hello! My Name is Blotto"), Alfonso Maiorana (director of "Goddess of Slide"), Brian Stieglitz (director of "D.I.Y.L.I."), Jennifer A. Uihlein (director of "Notes on a Page"), James Egan (producer of "If Jack Reacher Could Sing"), Jarrett Bellucci (director of "STRING THEORY"), and Robert Schwartzman (director/actor/musician of "Hung Up on a Dream: The Zombies Documentary," which will be the closing night spotlight film).

The festival's presenting sponsor is Catholic Health, with additional sponsors including Northville, PSEG, Claire Friedlander Family Foundation, Optimum, Aline Wealth Management, and The EGC Group.

LIMEHOF, which encompasses New York State's Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, and Kings (Brooklyn) Counties, offers education programs, scholarships, and awards to Long Island students and educators. The festival will take place at 97 Main Street, Stony Brook, NY.

Since its founding in 2004, LIMEHOF has inducted more than 130 musicians and music industry executives. In 2022, LIMEHOF opened its first Hall of Fame building location in Stony Brook, NY.

My Name is Blotto," "The Bronx Boys," "To My Rescue," "They All Came Out to Montreux," "D.I.Y.L.I.," "Charlie Loves Our Band," "Songs of Black Folk," "Goddess of Slide," "Ron Delsener Presents," and "Hung Up on a Dream."
