Museum's Laundry Day at the Kaisenhaus Museum
Discover a fascinating journey into the past at the upcoming "Washing Day at the Kaisenhaus Museum"! This event, taking place tomorrow, offers a unique opportunity to experience life in post-war Germany as you wash laundry using historical equipment.
The Kaisenhaus Museum, nestled in the heart of the Waller Feldmark allotment area, near the Verein Blockland e.V. (Behrensweg 5a), invites everyone to participate in this special event. The museum, open on select days including tomorrow, July 6, as well as July 20, August 3, August 17, August 31, September 14 during the European Heritage Days, September 28, and October 12, is easily accessible by bus line 20 (to the Hohweg end stop) or by car.
The museum, founded to save an original 1957 Kaisen house from demolition, houses four exhibition rooms filled with original artifacts that offer a glimpse into the era of survival and reconstruction. During "Washing Day," visitors can immerse themselves in the past as they wash their clothes using a zinc tub, washboard, laundry soap, and washboard, just as people did in the 1940s and 50s.
For more information about this event or the museum in general, please contact Christine Glenewinkel at 0160-206 62 25. Angela Piplak from the Geschichtskontor Walle will also be present at the event.
Don't miss this chance to step back in time and experience history firsthand! The Garden Café at the Kaisenhaus Museum will be open from 2 PM to 6 PM every second Sunday until October, providing a perfect spot to relax and reflect on the day's experiences. Admission to the museum is free on Sundays, but donations help the association in its work.
