Multiple Opportunities Associated with a Single Landmark
The public is invited to attend a thought-provoking conference on May 17, 20XX, titled "A Monument - Many Perspectives". This event, organised by the Stadtarchiv Detmold, the Lippische Heimatbund, and the Heimatverein Hiddesen, will take place at the Haus des Gastes in Hiddesen.
The conference aims to delve into various aspects of the history of the Germans, artistic influences, impact on surroundings, tourism, and a suitable approach to nationally charged sites, particularly focusing on the Hermannsdenkmal, a 150-year-old national monument located in the Teutoburg Forest near Detmold.
Ernst von Bandel, a sculptor and visionary, began the project in 1836, selecting the Grotenburg hill as the site. His work and commitment left a lasting cultural influence on artists in the region by symbolizing German unity and heritage through monumental sculpture.
Admission to the conference is free, although a donation is requested. For inquiries about the conference, you can contact Daniela Lang at E-Mail 05231 977 201 or Dr. Bärbel Sunderbrink from Stadtarchiv Detmold at telephone 05231 766 110.
The Heimatverein Hiddesen will also be available for inquiries, and they can be reached at telephone 05231 89333 or via email [email protected]. They will be providing food and drinks during the conference.
For further information and registration, please contact the Heimatverein Hiddesen e.V.
This promises to be an enlightening and engaging event for all interested parties, shedding new light on a cultural icon that has shaped the region's history and identity.
