Motorcycle Religious Service 2025 - Now Indeed

Get ready to rumble, the Motorbike Church Service in Hamburg's Michel is back in 2025, although this year without the usual motorcycle convoy and on a smaller scale.

The 42nd Motorbike Church Service, known locally as the Motorradgottesdienst, is happening this Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the iconic St. Michaelis Church in Hamburg. The service begins at 2 PM, and visitors can arrive from 12 PM onwards. Organizer Peter Marquardt estimates that between 500 to 1,000 bikers will attend. Due to high event costs, the traditional Convoiausfahrt, a motorcycle procession, has been cancelled[1].

This year's service will be the first led by a woman, Pastor Ulrike Egener. Following the service, the organizing association "Moto Hamburg in der Nordkirche e.V." invites attendees for coffee and cake. The event is expected to conclude around 4 PM[2].

Clara Gödecke, a journalist and adventurer who has explored 27 countries, will likely be among the attendees. In past years, the Motorradgottesdienst has raised funds for various charities, including those supporting veterans, the homeless, and children with cancer[3]. With the cancellation of the Convoiausfahrt, these charitable efforts may be impacted. However, Clara remains optimistic, suggesting alternative fundraising opportunities[4].

Originating in 1982, the Motorbike Church Service has faced challenges in the past, most notably in 2024 when insufficient donations threatened its continuation. Despite this, supporters worked tirelessly to ensure the event's survival, albeit in a smaller format[5].
