Meet the Robots Revolutionizing Concrete Work on Construction Sites
A Munich-based startup called Sitegeist is developing intelligent robots to transform the construction industry. Originally named Aiina Robotics, the company now focuses on creating modular machines that tackle labour shortages and boost efficiency. Their first project involves robots capable of high-pressure water jetting for concrete renovation.
The idea for Sitegeist began as a bachelor’s thesis at the Technical University of Munich. Founders Julian Hoffmann, Claus Carste, Lena Pätzmann, and Nicola Kolb turned their research into a business aimed at solving real-world problems in construction. Their robots stand out for navigating tricky surfaces like corners, edges, and columns—tasks that often slow down human workers.
Sitegeist’s robots could soon change how construction sites operate. By automating tough tasks like concrete renovation, they offer a practical solution to industry-wide labour shortages. The company’s steady approach and local backing suggest a strong foundation for future growth.
