Tourism in MV: More Overnights, High Satisfaction - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania defies USA tourism slump with record visitor satisfaction

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's tourism sector has shown remarkable resilience, generating nearly 63 million day visits and approximately €2 billion in revenue in 2024. Despite facing challenges, the state has maintained its position as a top tourist destination in the United States.

The state's hospitality industry, however, is grappling with rising costs and excessive bureaucracy. These factors have led to stagnant revenues and shrinking profit margins, as reported by a joint study conducted by the Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Tourism, and Labor and the IBN Greifswald (Institute for Baltic Sea Research).

Despite these challenges, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has continued to excel in tourist satisfaction. In 2024, the state ranked first in the USA with an impressive 'Trust Score' of 84.8 out of 100 points.

In a positive trend, the state recorded a 1.5% increase in overnight stays from January to August 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. This is in contrast to the nationwide decline in overnight bookings, which stood at 0.1% during the same period.

While the hospitality industry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania faces operational hurdles, the state's tourism sector continues to thrive. With strong visitor satisfaction and a steady increase in overnight stays, the region remains a popular choice for tourists, despite national trends.
