Lake District cashes in the most from the billion fund for MV - Mecklenburg-West Pomerania Secures €1.93 Billion for Rural and Urban Infrastructure Upgrades
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is set to receive around €1.93 billion from the federal government's special fund. The money will support key areas like education, transport, and social infrastructure. Rural districts and independent cities will share the funding, with amounts varying across the region.
The largest share goes to Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, which will get nearly €127 million. This makes it the highest allocation among the region's six rural districts. Additionally, each of its municipalities will receive a one-time payment of €50,000.
Ludwigslust-Parchim follows with €110.4 million, the second-highest amount. Vorpommern-Greifswald comes next, securing €108 million, while Rostock district will get €107.6 million. Vorpommern-Rügen rounds out the top five with €104.6 million.
At the lower end, Nordwestmecklenburg district will receive €79.5 million, the smallest sum among rural areas. Meanwhile, the independent cities of Rostock and Schwerin are allocated €83.1 million and €43.3 million, respectively.
The funds will cover long-term investments in schools, transport, energy, and public transit. They will also support social infrastructure projects and one-time payments to local municipalities.
The federal funding will be distributed without detailed breakdowns for individual municipalities or comparisons to past programmes. The allocations aim to strengthen public services and infrastructure across Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Each district and city will now plan how to use the funds for local needs.
