Mazarrón’s *Un Mundo de Papel* Transforms Old Books Into Stunning Artworks

A striking new exhibition has opened in Mazarrón, turning old books into intricate works of art. Un Mundo de Papel showcases the talent of local artists who breathe fresh life into discarded materials. Visitors can explore the display until January 24, 2026.

The exhibition is the creation of Miriam Carvajal, Pepi Carvajal, and José Miguel Ortega, alongside the Spanish collective Paco Roca and El Coleccionista de Instantes. Their work transforms forgotten books into delicate sculptures and immersive installations. The pieces celebrate sustainability by repurposing materials that might otherwise go to waste.

Hosted at the Casino de Mazarrón, the show runs from Monday to Saturday, 10:00am to 2:00pm, with extended evening hours on Thursdays and Fridays until 8:00pm. The event follows a December 2024 preview at the Casa de la Cultura, where the artists first unveiled their paper-based creations. Beyond aesthetics, the project promotes environmental awareness. By reusing old books, the artists highlight the beauty of recycling while encouraging creative expression. Their work invites viewers to reconsider how everyday objects can be reinvented.

The exhibition remains free and open to the public until its closing date. Through paper sculptures and thoughtful design, it offers a fresh perspective on art, sustainability, and the potential of discarded materials. Organisers hope the display will inspire both artists and visitors to embrace recycling in new ways.
