Marl’s ‘Brinkfortsheide’ Garden Wins Top Honors for Second Year

Marl’s allotment gardens have once again been celebrated for their beauty and community impact. The 'Brinkfortsheide' garden took top honours for the second year running, scoring 265.28 points in this year’s competition. Judges visited each site three times to assess their visual charm, practical use, and environmental efforts.

The awards ceremony took place at Willy Brandt Comprehensive School, where several gardens and individuals received special recognition. Among them was Wolfgang Fuchs, the outgoing chairman of the district association, who was awarded the Silver Badge of Honor for his long-standing dedication.

The event celebrated both individual achievements and the broader impact of allotment gardens on the city. 'Brinkfortsheide' remains a standout example, while long-serving members like Wolfgang Fuchs were recognised for their contributions. The awards reflect Marl’s ongoing commitment to green spaces and community engagement.
