Marburg’s First Engagement Festival Celebrates Local Volunteering on November 15

Marburg is set to host its first Engagement Festival on November 15, 2023, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Erwin-Piscator-Haus. This event, organized by Engaged Marburg, a joint initiative of the City of Marburg, Philipps-Universität Marburg, and the Marburg-Biedenkopf Volunteer Agency, aims to celebrate and showcase the diversity and impact of local volunteering in the city.

The festival will kick off with a panel discussion featuring Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Spies, Prof. Dr. Yvonne Zimmermann, and Brigitte Bohnke, moderated by Sigrid Jacob. This will be followed by an outdoor exhibition outside the EPH, where emergency responders, rescue dogs, and paramedics will demonstrate their crucial work.

Inside the EPH, visitors can expect a vibrant display from over 70 local community groups. These include the Alzheimer’s Society, various debate clubs, choirs, food banks, and crisis hotlines, each offering insights into their respective roles and contributions to the Marburg community. The full program can be found on the official website, www.marburgmachtmit.de/engagementfestival.

The Engagement Festival promises to be an inspiring and informative event, highlighting the breadth and significance of local volunteering in Marburg. It serves as a testament to the city's commitment to community engagement and offers an opportunity for residents to connect with and learn about the many organizations that enrich Marburg's social fabric.
