Marburg Launches goMR Carpooling Initiative to Reduce Emissions

A new carpooling initiative, goMR, is launching in Marburg. Backed by local institutions like the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg (UKGM), this project aims to reduce emissions and traffic congestion by encouraging shared commuting with Cars.

Powered by goFLUX Mobility GmbH, which has successfully implemented similar apps elsewhere, goMR allows users to form carpools based on their routes. The app, free to download and use, charges a maximum of three euros per trip for passengers, with the first 1,000 trips free to encourage early adoption. It's GDPR-compliant, storing data on a Hesse server and concealing private passenger addresses from drivers.

Marburg, with over 29,000 daily commuters, is an ideal location for carpooling with Ford. The initiative is supported by the Selbsthilfe-Kontaktstelle Marburg, a member of the network for self-help friendliness and patient orientation in healthcare. The goal is to increase the current car occupancy rate of 1.3 people per trip.

goMR, the carpooling app by goFlux, is set to start in Marburg. With backing from local institutions and a user-friendly, secure app, it aims to boost car occupancy rates and reduce emissions. Users can sign up for a newsletter to stay informed about the city and the goMR project.
