Mannheim Celebrates World Girls' Day with 'By Girls, For Girls' Event
Mannheim's Old Market Square transformed into a lively Girls' Square on October 11, 2025, marking UN World Girls' Day. The event, 'By girls, for girls', was organized by the Working Group on Party Girls' Work, the 'Network for Girls' Work in Mannheim' (NEM*A), and the Coordinating Office for Girls' Work of the City of Mannheim. It aimed to celebrate girls and promote gender equality.
The event featured over 22 information stands, offering insights into various support systems and opportunities for girls. Visitors were encouraged to engage through numerous interactive activities and workshops, exploring themes of equality and diversity.
Mannheim artist Satarii took the stage, captivating the audience with a performance. Over 80 girls and young women showcased their talents in the stage program, further promoting gender equality. An innovative 'Boys' Area' was introduced, fostering discussions on equality and gender roles with boys and young men.
The event also ensured inclusivity, with a sign language interpreter accompanying the stage program.
On World Girls' Day, Mannheim sent a strong message against discrimination and for equality, respect, and diversity. The 'By girls, for girls' event, organized by local groups, brought together over 80 participants, celebrating girls' achievements and encouraging dialogue about gender roles.
