MAN Truck & Bus pumps €300M into Europe's largest service network overhaul

MAN Truck & Bus has announced a €300 million investment plan to modernise and expand its European service network by 2030. The company aims to strengthen its position in the market while preparing for the shift to electric mobility. This marks the largest single investment in the firm's history.

The funding will upgrade existing locations and establish new service hubs across key markets. These include Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the UK, Italy, Spain, Poland, and Turkey. By 2030, the goal is for nearly 80% of customers to reach the nearest MAN service centre within a 30-minute drive.

MAN already operates around 1,200 service and sales points in Europe, employing roughly 7,000 staff. The expansion will focus on improving regional coverage, service quality, and support for electric vehicles. Two-thirds of all locations are expected to be electric-ready by 2026, with a third of the total investment earmarked for electromobility and digital upgrades.

The company has also partnered with E.ON to install public charging stations for electric trucks at multiple service sites. Several of these are already active in Germany, Austria, Czechia, and other regions. In addition, MAN is rolling out solar panels, LED lighting, and modern heating systems at its facilities. Workshops are being digitised with iPads and app-based tools to streamline operations.

Battery repair centres are another priority, with new facilities now open in Germany, Spain, Belgium, Austria, and Italy. Austria's hub will serve as a regional base for neighbouring countries. Friedrich Baumann, Board Member for Sales and Customer Solutions, stressed that these moves will help secure a competitive edge and build a sustainable future.

The €300 million programme will transform MAN's service infrastructure over the next six years. Faster access to maintenance, expanded electric vehicle support, and greener operations are set to benefit customers across Europe. The company's focus remains on reducing downtime and improving efficiency for fleet operators.
